Ballet
Our ISTD Ballet classes combine strong classical ballet technique with the internationally recognised ISTD syllabus. Students develop posture, alignment, flexibility, musicality, coordination, strength and control while progressing through carefully structured exercises appropriate to their age and level. Classes work towards ISTD examinations where appropriate, giving students clear goals and a sense of progression, but we believe ballet should be about much more than exams. Students are encouraged to develop confidence, artistry and a genuine enjoyment of performing. Ballet students also have opportunities to take part in performances throughout the year, including our annual production at the Grove Theatre, giving them the chance to take the technique developed in class onto a professional theatre stage.

Street Dance
High-energy, current and full of personality, our Street Dance classes are designed for students who love to move, perform and develop their own individual style. Classes explore a range of street and hip-hop influenced movement, choreography, musicality, rhythm, grooves, dynamics and performance skills. Students learn routines while also developing coordination, stamina, confidence and the ability to pick up choreography quickly. As students progress, the choreography becomes more challenging and places greater emphasis on precision, performance quality and working together as a group. Our Street Dance students perform regularly, including the opportunity to take part in our annual show at the Grove Theatre.

Hip Hop — Invite Only
Our Hip-Hop Company classes are for dancers who want to take their street and hip-hop training further and be part of a dedicated performance team. Training focuses on performance, musicality, precision, dynamics, style, formations, teamwork and more advanced choreography. Students are encouraged to become confident, versatile performers who can bring energy, individuality and character to the stage. Company dancers work towards performances and projects throughout the year, with opportunities to represent On Point Dance Academy at shows, events and our annual production at the Grove Theatre. These classes are ideal for dancers who enjoy being challenged and want to develop their performance skills within a committed team environment.

Stage School
Our Stage School classes bring together all three areas of musical theatre: singing, acting and dance. Students work on vocal technique, acting skills, characterisation, script work, choreography, ensemble performance and stagecraft. Classes are designed to create confident young performers who are comfortable speaking, singing, acting and dancing in front of an audience. Rather than treating each discipline separately, students learn how to combine them just as they would in a musical or professional production. Performance is a major part of Stage School, with students working towards productions and performance opportunities throughout the year, including appearances on the Grove Theatre stage. Whether a student dreams of performing professionally or simply wants to develop confidence, creativity and communication skills, Stage School gives them the opportunity to become a genuine triple-threat performer.

Commercial
Our Commercial Dance classes are inspired by the style of choreography seen in music videos, concerts, television and the commercial dance industry. Students develop confidence, performance quality, musicality, dynamics, versatility and the ability to learn choreography quickly. Classes combine strong dance technique with the individuality, energy and performance skills needed to make choreography come alive. As dancers progress, they are encouraged to understand not just the steps, but how to perform them, developing their own style, confidence and presence. Commercial students have opportunities to perform throughout the year, including in our annual Grove Theatre production.

Tap Dance
Our ISTD Tap classes combine technical training with rhythm, musicality and performance. Following the internationally recognised ISTD syllabus, students gradually develop increasingly complex tap vocabulary, timing, coordination, weight placement, rhythm and clarity of sound. Tap is fantastic for developing musical understanding, concentration and coordination, while giving students a strong technical foundation that can progress from beginner level through to advanced training. Students can work towards ISTD examinations where appropriate and also use their tap skills in performance, including opportunities to appear in our annual show at the Grove Theatre.

Tricks & Acro
Our Tricks & Acro classes develop the strength, flexibility, coordination and confidence needed to perform exciting acrobatic skills safely and effectively. Students work progressively through skills including balances, bridges, walkovers, cartwheels, handstands, aerial-style skills, tumbling, partner work and more advanced tricks as their ability develops. A major part of our training uses AcroPAD inflatable equipment, giving students a supportive environment in which to practise, develop and progress their skills. The equipment allows dancers to work on techniques and movements that can then be transferred safely into choreography and performance. The emphasis is always on good technique and controlled progression rather than simply attempting tricks. Students also have opportunities to incorporate their acro skills into routines and performances, including our annual production at the Grove Theatre.

Jazz Dance
Our Jazz classes develop strong, versatile dancers with an emphasis on technique, style and performance. Students work on turns, kicks, leaps, jumps, flexibility, strength, travelling sequences and choreography while developing musicality, coordination and confidence. Jazz is an important foundation for many areas of dance and musical theatre, helping students become quicker at picking up choreography and more confident across a wide range of styles. As students progress, classes become increasingly challenging and focus on combining strong technique with performance and individuality. Students regularly work towards performance opportunities, including our annual Grove Theatre show.

Contemporary
Our Contemporary classes give students the opportunity to explore movement, creativity and expression while developing strong technical foundations. Students work on floor work, travelling, turns, jumps, balance, control, strength, flexibility and fluidity, alongside contemporary choreography and creative movement. Classes encourage dancers to understand the intention behind movement rather than simply learning steps. Students develop musicality, emotional expression, confidence and their own individual movement style. Contemporary training is particularly valuable for dancers looking to broaden their versatility and experience a different way of moving and performing. Students have opportunities to showcase their work through performances during the year, including our annual production at the Grove Theatre.
